Wii DIY [start date: 07/07/07] [last modified: 10/07/08]

The start
I thought of making a (Nintendo) wii game, and came up with Wii DIY. You would build your own furniture to put in houses or earn currency, by moving the wii remote backwards and forwards to saw, bring it up, then slam it down to hammer, etc. You could build houses, in individual sections, such as directing it, optionally hiring other builders, laying the bricks using the nunchuck and remote as hands, welding, aiming with the remote, "holding" with the nuchuck, and pressing a button to weld, or swishing up and down with the Wii remote to paint, etc.
You could get in vehicles and interact with them, such as moving the levers of a crane with the nunchuck and remote, and explore a small world where you could look at the houses you made, look at other houses for examples, look at the land you could buy at the estate agents (see below) go to the shops and buy new bricks, more bricks, new vehicles, new tools, new building materials such as glass or wood, and sell the furniture you made. You could go to the estate agents, and buy new land or sell houses. You could go to the agency to hire workmen, foremen, plumbers, electricians, painters, or architects for various prices, although you could do all of those jobs yourself.
Houses
Houses would be built in different stages (see above for examples), and could be Knocked down if you wanted to replace them.
You could go inside all the house you made, and pre-made houses, to look at the interior, or customize it by putting the furniture you made, or bought, or making your own designs for the wallpaper.
Furniture
The way to make money for houses and hiring (you would start with a limited amount) would be to make furniture. You could also place the furniture you made in houses. You could interact with the furniture, such as being able to paint a picture on a easel with the same editor as the wallpaper (see below) or watching a animation on a TV. (again, see below) if a furniture item was supposed to have a purpose, EG. a chair (to sit on) you could build your own, with the only boundaries being to make the chair high enough and the seat low and large enough for your character to sit on
Multiplayer
There would be 4 town memory slots, so 4 people could make their own town or 1 person could make 4 towns Etc. If you had a second remote, you could tour the town with them, and/or work together to make houses or furniture.
Characters (adventure mode only)
You could make your own character, choosing the hair, glasses*, mouth, beard/moustache*,
Jewelry*, Gloves*, nose, top, skin color, trousers, and hat*. In multiplayer,
the second player could choose to make their own character, get a random
one,
or load
one that
has already been made. (you could choose whether to save or not at the end
of customizing the second player's character) You could change your character
anytime you wanted, and could also buy or design new clothes (See shops section)
* optional
Flooring and walls (adventure mode only)
You could create your own wallpaper or floors or buy pre made ones. The editor would have over 50 shades, many drawing tools, pre-made patterns to add, the ability to copy and paste certain areas of other patterns, and the option to choose the amount of size the pattern takes up (maximum of the size of the room you are creating the pattern for)
Animations
An object you could buy or edit (see above) would be the TV. With the same editor
as the wallpaper or flooring, except with a large amount of slots to put
in each frame for the animation, (you could choose how many frames per second)
you could create a animation to watch on the TV. Each TV would come with
a few pre made animations, TVs such as the christmas or halloween TV (see
below) with different ones, and you could buy new ones from a special shop.
Modes
There would be several different modes in Wii DIY. They would be:
Adventure: (main mode) Adventure mode is the main mode, and as such the one with the most
features. Any feature on this page that is only in adventure mode is marked
as such.
Sandbox: In this mode you can create Furniture and houses with unlimited currency, workmen
and resources, all tools and vehicles unlocked, and a adjustable amount of
land.
Lab
mode: in this mode you could see how your buildings (created in either of the aforementioned
modes) fare against natural (hurricanes, volcanoes, Etc) or technological
(Nuclear meltdowns, etc) disasters.
Options/Extras: These modes give you the ability to change the options or extras respectively.
Time (adventure mode only)
On special occasions extra furniture, materials, carpets, wallpapers, tools,
and wall colors would be on sale. You could choose between real and fictional
time, fictional time passing faster, but real time having special events
happening at the real time they happen.
Logos
There would be the ability to make your own logo from scratch, or choose from
pre-set ones and use it on your clothes, vehicles, tools, etc.
Shops (Adventure mode only)
There would be a number of shops, including a tailor's (buying and designing
clothes) DIY Store (Buying tools and materials) Estate agency (Buying land
or pre-built houses to sell or customize) Printer's (Printing advertisements
etc) Book store (access to tutorials) Hairdresser's (for changing your hair)
Advertising agency (for designing newspaper/ TV adverts) Broadcasting center
(for broadcasting adverts) and agency (to hire builders, plumbers, etc)
Adverts (adventure mode only)
If you visited the Advertising agency (see above) you would be able to design
newspaper adverts or TV adverts, The purpose of these adverts being for new
workmen to appear in the agency, and more challenges (see below) to appear.
Challenges (adventure mode only)
Occaisonally in adventure mode, people will ask for you to either build a house
they designed or build a house that reflects thier personality. The reward
for theese challenges would be currency, and occaisonally a gift. Tools (Adventure mode only) As
well as the ability to buy tools from the shop, you would also be able to
customize them by changing the size, color, putting your logo on them or
tuning them. (see shops section).
I've barely even started this project, but please check back for updates.
